Daejeon and Heroes

Last weekend Nexen was playing HanHwa in Daejeon so I took the train on Sunday afternoon to watch the game. They had played on Saturday as well but I had had plans - even if they got cancelled in the end so whatever... - and had made my mind to go only on Sunday. In the end, we lost the game on Saturday so I think it's only good that I went on Sunday. I had cool things I wanted to show off on the game, so had we lost that game it would have been a bit sad...

Took me a while to pimp up, as I wanted to make it look amazing: I was going to wear
my uniform for the first time. I wore the circle lenses I got for free when I helped Rosemary
buy her new pair of reading glasses when she was in Korea, and they felt sorry it took so long.
Also put on fake lashes, that I had had for a while (since the Hanbok cosplay in July actually)

It was my first time in Daejeon, and I realized that it's really close and convenient to go. Without even taking the KTX, in a 1h40 minutes ride and $8CAD, I got to Daejeon. I learned later that if you really care about money more than time, there is even a subway/localtrain that goes directly there (with only one transfer) for $1.5CAD. Yup. Do a 3 hours train ride for a dollar. I love the Korean transport system. Even if, actually I love to hate it (you'll get an insight of that in a bit...).
Anyways. I get to Suwon station around 1:20PM, to take the 13:53 train do Daejeon.... but the file to buy the tickets is incredibly long, and there's nothing to do about it... so I ended up getting the 3PM train, that got me to Daejeon at 4:20, just enough to get to the stadium on time for the start of the game at 5. I almost got there late mind you, since the cab ride from the train station to the stadium took ages. I guess I am not the only one who wanted to watch baseball that day.

The weather in Daejeon was...

WTF. Why am I talking about the weather.

Actually... no. I want to :)

After a CRAZY HOT AND HUMID summer, the temperature finally cooled off and it feels AMAZING to go outside. It is now physically legal to wear vests and jackets again, and I don't feel like dying if I go out without a hat (I do miss wearing my hat though. Meh, there'll be other summers).
Was still pretty instense under the sun in the stadium, since, being the visiting team, we were on the side the sun hit on.
Did you know that in baseball, the home team's side is always placed on the shaded side of the stadium? I didn't. Ironically, home games or not, so far all the games I've watched were on the left side. I am still trying to read into my fortune and figure out what that means.

The Daejeon game was the weirdest game I've watched so far. Both teams were doing horrible til the 5th inning. It felt really awkward to watch actually, but what do we do when we feel bad, we cheer more, because it's our team, and we want them to win. Because we love them. Was my case anyways. As soon as the sun went down (till that point actually, the sun hitting my eyes was so intense it was hard to watch the game, especially taken the fact that my right contact felt loose in my eye and kept moving around so annoyingly) our team sort of got back on its feet. Park Byung-ho made an incredible HomeRun that went out of the stadium, and we finally got the game back.

7/3 Nexen Heroes.

Still. It was a weird victory. We changed pitchers three or four times in the first 6 innings and none was ever really getting it right. We did win though, and that made my day.

Nexen Cheering Uniform - GirlGen Style

The Daejeon game was the unveiling of my cheering uniform. It was Ted's idea, to make a Nexen cheering uniform for me to go cheer the team, and it had been planned for a long time, but due to many random things happening in the spring through the summer, last Saturday was the first day I officially got to wear it for a game. I still need to get myself a hat, but that'll hopefully be dealt with in the coming week.

I have no full body view, because I figured there might be a screen shot or a glimpse of the uniform on TV, since it sort of stood out, but I still haven't got anything so far so I'll just upload the links later if there is anything to upload.

On the way back I wanted to get home before the last bus to Dongtan so I paid the (wow so expensive) $12CAD KTX ticket for a 40 minutes ride at 9:58PM. I was there at 8:50. Had plenty of time so I bought and ate udon (I had woken up pretty late to that day I had only prepped for the game and left home without any kind of decent meal, there was also the fact I was scared I'd be too tight in my pants, that are really made tight...). I went on the train platform at 9h40 ish. And waited.

And waited.

And waited.

They kept saying that the KTX358 bound for Suwon was delayed. They said it was going to arrive at 10:07PM. Then they never showed my train's info on the board and suddently they put a 22:08 train up. Since there were no new from my train I waited.

22:23. I ask a man besides me.

He tells me. Well, your train was at 9:58, it's already gone, obviously.

I wanted to kill someone.

I'd been freaking waiting in front of the train all that freaking time, with a coffee to wake myself up.

Gone.

I went back to the information desk. Half crying.

That was stupid. I know, but I just remembered the flight I missed in Japan with my childhood friend when I went back there for the first time. At the time, my life felt like it had ended. I just went bat shit crazy and balled my eyes out at the airport. Hello pride. No, I mean, bye bye...

Anyways, thinking about that flight home that I had missed, I felt like my world was completely shattered. I am not even close to my period so I can't even blame it. I don't know. the releasing of all the pressure I'd been through in the last months? Regardless, I almost started crying for a stupid train.

So they put me on the next fastest train, first class seat.

I suppose I should have been happy but my mood was just blegh at the time.

Whatever.

Stupid foreign girl missed her train. End of the story.
